My Work

About Me

Since the beginning of August, I have been a reporter/researcher for the Yomiuri Shimbun, Japan's largest print newspaper. I assist in conducting interviews, research and transcribing recordings. Click here for general information on The Yomiuri Shimbun.

From September 2023-June 2024, I was a photographer for Irvin Simon Photographers. I captured school portraits, and I was trained to photograph groups, freestyle, and sports.

Since the summer of 2017, I have been a lifeguard for the Town of Hempstead during the summer. For three summers, I was a coach for my pool's swim team. For the summer of 2024, I was promoted to lieutenant lifeguard, a leadership position where I helped with payroll, scheduling, and maintaining a lively work environment. During the 2023/2024 school year, I worked the indoor winter season where I was a coach for the winter swim team. I am continuing working the indoor season this upcoming indoor season.

I was a part of The Statesman, Stony Brook's school newspaper, for three years. I started out as a news reporter, but I ended up finding my passion in multimedia. I was a social media intern, the assistant multimedia editor, and then the multimedia editor. I took photos and filmed events, such as sports games, to be included in articles. I also oversaw interns for subsections (i.e. social media and video). During my senior year, I fulfilled the managing editor position for the 2022/2023 school year. I oversaw The Statesman as a whole, including the different sections and the business side.

I was able to explore my interest in broadcast journalism through the School of Journalism's Student Media Group. We were a collection of students that produced weekly broadcast shows throughout the semester. I contributed by creating packages, anchoring, designing graphics, writing scripts, producing, and doing camerawork. We did live shows, such as a pregame Homecoming show.

During my time at Stony Brook University, I found work with the Campus Residences marketing team (March 2021-May 2023). There I took photos, shot video, and edited the CampRes website. I was also a resident assistant (August 2021-May 2023). I worked with about 36 residents on my floor to maintain a safe and amicable living environment. I work closely with the building's hall council to provide residents with various events. Additionally, I was an Undergraduate College Fellow, which is a two-semester peer mentorship program that sophomores can pursue to emerge as leaders to incoming freshmen. It involved serving as a teaching assistant for a first-year seminar that all freshmen are required to complete.

Before Stony Brook, I attended New Hyde Park Memorial High School, where I was a part of The Academy of Finance. The Academy is an elective, 4-year selective program that introduces students to the business world and teaches them valuable skills relating to business. For three years (2016-2019), I worked at Long Island Swim School where I taught kids and adults how to swim in shallow and deep water.
